Dr. Eric Sjoberg
Eric Sjoberg graduated magna cum laude from Duke University in 1970 with a BS in electrical engineering. He and his wife Maggie – the namesake of our practice – then moved to Maryland where he began working for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Eric earned his masters in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland in 1972. A job offer from the Georgia Tech Research Institute in 1975 enticed he and Maggie…
Dr. Shelbe Rice
Dr. Shelbe Rice is the most recent addition to our veterinary staff. She graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. As she grew her knowledge base in school, her passion for internal medicine, reproduction, and dentistry grew as well. Having a specific interest in equine medicine was no coincidence as she has been riding horses from a young age. Shelbe grew up in a small town in Georgia…

And Our Amazing Support Team
Maggie’s Menagerie is fortunate to have very skilled and dedicated staff supporting our practice and working closely with our doctors. Their substantial experience with small and large animals is vital to achieving a productive, safe environment and providing top quality care to our patients.
I’ve been with MMVS since December of 2008 and I think the most challenging task that I’ve had to perform is writing this little biography about myself! My career as a veterinary assistant began in 2004 with Dr Neff. After a few “ride-alongs”, she offered me a job. I worked with her for one year until she closed her practice to relocate out of state. She told me to try and get a job with Dr Sjoberg because he would offer…
I was born in Muncie, Indiana, but grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia. After high school I worked mostly in the construction field. In 1999, I moved to Gates County, North Carolina with my sister, where we owned and operated a Quarter Horse farm. I have always had a strong love for animals, so when I was offered a job at a local vet office, I jumped at the opportunity. I spent almost 10 years at Goose Creek Animal Hospital…
I am the receptionist here at Maggie’s Menagerie. A Royston, GA native, I joined the practice in 2018. My educational background is in Animal Science, and as a member of the MMVS team I get to fuel my love for veterinary medicine while continuing my education in the work place. During my time off I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two sons and participating in various outdoor activities.
Most of my early life was spent in the Virginia area, and it was there that I met my husband, Dick. After Dick completed his commitment to the Marines we settled in this area, where Dick began a career in law enforcement and I moved into the health and mental health departments of the state health system. We both enjoyed our chosen careers as well as caring for our family and pets. After retiring in 2002, I was invited to join the MMVS family…
